Sister School Project
Project Overview:
Sister School Project (Zaragoza, EL SALVADOR) began as an educational development partnership between Monticello High School in Charlottesville, VA and Escuela Pública Cantón El Zaite in Zaragoza, El Salvador. With money collected from Monticello High School, other schools in Virginia, and a group of private donors, The Sister School Project has created a scholarship program for talented students without the economic resources to continue their education. The Sister School Project has also provided infrastructure development for the school including a retaining wall and security fence, paint, textbooks, and thousands of basic school supplies. In collaboration with the private school Escuela Americana the Project has also acquired six used computers for Zaite and began an English and computation program for the students. The Sister School Project coordinates volunteer travel experiences for people wishing to dedicate their time and experience to the development of Zaite.
