The Paul and Vercile Strege Fund

Paul and Vercile Strege

The Paul and Vercile Strege Fund to benefit International Partners in Mission was established by International Partners in Mission's Board of Directors in recognition of the lifetime of leadership and service of the Reverend Paul and the late Vercile Strege.

Paul Strege is one of the co-founders of IPM and currently the Honorary Chair of IPM's International Advisory Council. Paul and Vercile were married for over 50 years and had six children. Their lifetime of service together began in 1948 and included 16 years as a missionary couple in post-war Japan, service throughout the developing world, including East Asia and the Pacific, Central America, Europe, and the Middle East, and the founding of Partners in Mission. As Paul recounted in his 2000 book, How Small is Small?, Vercile was God's special gift to her family and the entire International Partners in Mission family as well.

Upon Vercile's passing in July 2001, IPM's International Board of Directors unanimously voted to rename its existing endowment fund in recognition of Paul and Vercile. In February 2002, the assets of the fund were transferred to the Cleveland Foundation - the nation's oldest and second-largest Community Foundation - to establish an organizational endowment fund whose earnings will honor Paul and Vercile and benefit the work of International Partners in Mission around the world in perpetuity.
